Greetings from beautiful Ennis, Montana! We are Shane, Hunt, and Jacob- the trip leaders for this
Yellowstone Adventure. This afternoon we gathered everyone from the Bozeman airport in a rather quick fashion, beginning the hour-long drive along the Madison River on the way to our base camp here in Ennis, the trout capital of North America. Situated between the Gallatin and Big Sky Mountain Ranges, these breathtaking views are giving everyone an early feel for the proud landscape of the American West in which we will soon be immersed. We will return here to the Madison River Valley near the end of our trip, but our focus today was on preparations for the beginning of our trip tomorrow in Yellowstone National Park.
Upon our arrival, we made a quick lunch and everyone introduced themselves to the group and we went over the expectations for the trip. We then reviewed tent setup, fly casting, and knot tying- all skills that will be necessary, and certainly developed, over the next two weeks! Between games of spike ball and ultimate frisbee, we cooked a delicious dinner of cheeseburgers and
fresh corn. Soon the sun enveloped the western horizon, and the crystalline Montana blue sky melded into a twilight. We all retired to our tents with high hopes for the days to come. The morning will find us traveling into Yellowstone, where we will camp along the headwaters of the Madison River. We will explore this vast network of waters for several days and then will begin our firstbackcountry adventure to Grebe Lake and the Cascade River.
We are very excited to be leading this trip and will be in touch soon!
Best regards,
Shane, Hunt, and Jacob
