Hey everyone!
The Montana Road trip is flying by! It's hard to believe we're about halfway through the trip; fortunately, we still have some great fishing to look forward to. The group is getting along great, having gotten to know each other a little bit and settled into the flow of the trip, we feel like we're firing on all cylinders.
We had a couple great days on the Madison - the guys all got some good practice handling big Montana Trout. With reports that the Missouri is hot, we packed up camp and headed that way.
Our crew has arrived and is thriving at camp along the Missouri River in Craig, Montana. Some weather passed through right as we put in the boats yesterday afternoon, so we had the whole place to ourselves. The fishing was great - lots of big fish and bigger smiles. With lots of action on the water and plenty of laughter around the campfire, the boys are getting to sleep early and rising even earlier to get on the water.
Our 'typical' day at camp consists of getting up fairly early to fish the morning hatch. By the time we wander back to camp, it's time for a nice lunch on the river or at our campsite. During the hottest part of the afternoons, we give the trout a break and hang around camp, play by the river. We sometimes eat an early dinner, just in time to make our way out for a good dry fly sessions. Other days we fish late in to the afternoon and evening and have a late dinner.
We're having a great time - catching great fish, making new friends, and seeing some amazing places. We’ll check back in after a couple days fishing the Salmon Fly hatch on the Madison and scouting out the Ruby River.
Best,
Drew, Josh, Max, and the guys
