Montana Road Trip Adventure - update 4

Hi families,

The Montana Road Trip Adventure has come to an end! We wrapped up the trip by getting an awesome final float on the Yellowstone River in Paradise Valley. The Yellowstone is an awesome freestone river very different than all of the other rivers we have fished earlier on the trip. It's also the longest un-dammed river in north America. The hopper bite was nice and we enjoyed a great riverside group lunch. A few cutthroat trout were caught adding a new species to the trip for many, which was awesome to see some overall trip goals get accomplished for a few guys catching a cutthroat, brown and rainbow trout.

Everybody took huge strides in their fishing knowledge and abilities throughout the trip. From learning to cast to easily throwing hoppers and nymph rigs to selecting flies and reading water. Following our float we hit the road back to Ennis where we had a group gear cleaning session before we finished up the day with an awesome steak banquet dinner followed by some kickball and root-beer floats topped off with some end of trip goodies. Everybody was excited to get their species accomplishment stickers, some awesome new fly boxes and a trip completion pin. It was a fantastic group with everybody meshing well and learning a ton along the way. We had a blast exploring Montana and all the amazing environments and rivers it has to offer!

We're sad to see these guys leave, but we know the experience was one we'll remember forever. This group was passionate about fishing, loved laughing, and was kind to each other. They're good guys with lots of good stuff ahead of them -- we hope to see them all again next summer. In the meantime, have a great year

Best,

Henry, Phillip, and Owen

Lillard Fly Fishing Expeditions was started in 2010 as a graduate thesis for my Master's Degree in Environmental Conservation Education at NYU. The operating premise was simple - by coupling amazing wilderness fly fishing camps for teens with environmental education and service learning we can help inspire future generations of fly fishing conservationists. We have been growing our unique list of trips and experiences ever since.

When it comes to choosing a summer program for your teen the options are endless. For the teen who loves to fish, be outside, and has a strong sense of adventure we have made the choice easy. We are the leader in teen fly fishing adventures and are dedicated to providing the best backcountry fly fishing experience with opportunities for teens to engage in leadership training, community service, and backcountry camping.
