Hi families,
We have arrived in Minneapolis! The day of travel went smoothly; guys came in throughout the late morning and afternoon. After collecting everyone, we hit the road with the van (*the coolest van in the LFFE fleet) and trailer packed down with supplies. After a quick lunch at a nearby park, we stopped at Thorne Bros fly shop. The group was amazed by the size of the flies needed to catch musky -- some took twho hands to hold. We saw a mount of the state record musky, a 55 lb behemoth and it immediately caught the attention of all the boys. Spirits are high in hopes and dreams are big -- surely there's another one that big (or bigger!).
With rain in the forecast, we are also learning that weather controls all and being flexible is a key factor for success in the wilderness. Tonight we'll have burgers and get to bed relatively early, hoping to wake up refreshed for a week of action-packed fishing.
We plan to float the St. Croix for three days and see how the weather/river is acting for the rest of the week. This allows us to be more flexible and see new water if the river stops fishing well.
The first day of a trip is always fun, seeing the group meet, watching nerves melt away, and observing as new friendships form. We're excited about the next week! The energy is high, the fishing should be good, and we're set up to have a great time. Until next time!
Tight lines,
The Minnesota guide crew
