Greetings from Indian Pond,
Our group of talented young anglers and us guides made it safely to Maine on Saturday after a quick pitstop for pizza on our way up. After setting up our tents, we finished off the night by getting to know each other with some frisbee at a local campground in Greenville.
Yesterday, we set up camp along the East Outlet of the Kennebec River, where we spent the morning fishing. While some of the students had some luck with landlocked salmon and brook trout, we decided to make the move to the West Outlet during the afternoon to fish for trophy smallmouth. Most of the group caught some fish, which made for a fun afternoon. The evening was filled with some ultimate frisbees and grilling burgers at a field by the campsite.

Today we enter the Maine woods backcountry via canoe on Indian Pond. Our anglers will canoe to a campsite at the mouth of the East Outlet, where we will set up camp for a four night stay. The mouth of the East Outlet offers some great brook trout and landlocked salmon fishing, along with some of the most incredible hatches of caddis this area has to offer. The next two mornings (Tuesday and Wednesday), we will float the West Outlet via canoe for trophy smallmouth, which is typically one of the highlights of the trip.

We will update everyone with more details after the backcountry trip. We are looking forward to a great trip!
