A once in a lifetime DIY flats fishing opportunity
Fully guided flat fishing is awesome, but lavish saltwater fly fishing trips aren't in the budget sometimes. Luckily for the adventurous angler, world-class flats fishing does have to be out of reach. There is something special about lacing up wading boots and stalking the flats by foot with just you and some friends. Spotting fish, getting into position, making a cast and the right retrieve—none of it is easy, but there might not be a better feeling in fly fishing than when your line goes tight on a DIY Bonefish, Permit, or juvenile Tarpon. There may not be a better place to make that happen than Rocky Point Fish Camp in Belize. With $700 off their advertised rate, you will never find a better time to make it happen. After arriving in Belize at Philip S. W. Goldson International (BZE), board a short flight on Tropic Air to San Pedro on Ambergris Caye. We will rendezvous in San Pedro for dinner and spend the night before heading to Rocky Point Fish Camp in the morning. "Camp" is completely off the grid, about 1.5 hours away, perfectly situated between two points where a barrier reef meets the land. The reef prevents almost all boat access to miles of flats, buckets, and fishy water that are steps from your cabana door. Turn around and walk to the backyard, and you are standing in Cantena Lagoon and Bacalar Chico National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with endless water to explore on foot with the help of a fleet of paddle boards and canoes.

Rocky Point has put together a detailed pre trip info packet. It included details on fishing, transportation, a full packing list, etc. You can download it below.
Day 1
All international flights coming into Belize land at Philip S. W. Goldson International, airport code BZE. Two local airlines service San Pedro/Ambergris Caye. We recommend Tropic Air, https://www.tropicair.com/. Book a flight for approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hours after your arrival time. It is a short (15-20 minute) flight to the island. Note: If international arrivals are taking a long time to clear immigration and customs, you will not “miss” your Tropic flight. Tropic pretty much sends folks as they check-in.
Day 2
Our shuttle to "Camp" will meet us at 9:00 AM on Tuesday morning, on the beach at the Blue Tang Inn. You can grab any last minute groceries and snacks you might want at Caye Mart (1 block to the west at the traffic circle.) The ride up to the camp from town takes approx 1:30. Please
Day 3/4
Meet in the common area from from 5:30 AM onward for coffee, breakfast and to make a fishing plan for the day. After you are fat and happy, grab your lunch and head out for the day, just remember to sign out on the board.
Day 5
Day 6
For your return flight, plan to get back to International two hours prior to your departure time.
