Hello from Colorado!
This is Jack, Remi, & Max - the guides for the Colorado Expedition. The first day of our trip was mostly consumed by travel - meeting everyone at the airport, collecting bags, loading up and heading west. It's always fun meeting everyone, but we're always anxious to get out of the airport and get the trip started. Once we were all together, we piled in the van and headed toward Granby. After a few hours in the van (and lots of snow still on Berthoud Pass), we were excited to get out and stretch our legs at the Stillwater Campground.
Once at camp, the guys divided into tent groups and got their tents set up. We spent some time settling in and unpacking a bit; we then did a brief trip orientation, talking through the next few days and covering some ground rules. The kids were chomping at the bit to do some fishing - we rigged our rods and got some time fishing Lake Grant. As the light faded, we got burgers going and gathered around the campsite tables.
Tomorrow we'll head to the Upper Colorado for some fishing instruction. After a good day of fishing, we'll prep for our first backcountry trip on Saturday. You can feel the excitement for the next couple weeks - we are ready! But for now, these kids are worn out and ready for a good night of sleep. You'll hear from us again after we come out of the backcountry. Until then...
Tight lines!
