Greetings from the Blue Ridge Adventure. Our trip is off to an amazing start, and the best is yet to come.
After gathering our group, we set up base camp at a cabin on the banks of a private section of Big Laural Creek. The grassy lawn made for the perfect place for some casting lessons. When it came time to hit the water, the hungry trout did not stand a chance. Within the first day at the cabin, everyone in the group had caught some absolutely huge fish. When the water got too warm during the hottest part of the day, we cooled off with some swimming in the creek.
For our final full day at the cabin, we headed to another section of private water, this time on the Little River. Our group spent the morning helping out with the fish stocking. Needless to say, the afternoon fishing was pretty epic. Everyone caught some fish, with a few doubles to top off a great day.
Today, the group moved to TN, where they will set up camp near two famous tailwaters, the South Holston and the Watauga. After getting our licenses, we will fish the evening hatch on the Watauga. We will spend the remainder of our time will be spent fishing out of drift boats. The pressured fish in these sections will test the group's new skills. The reward could be one of the HUGE wild brown trout that lurk in these waters.
It is crazy to think our trip is already half over. The group all gets along great, and the time is flying by. We will send another update at the end of the trip.
Best,
Patrick and crew.
